I see there are tools to remove front springs for 1968 and up Ramblers. I need to pull the front springs out of my 1959 Station Wagon and cannot find a safe coil spring compressor. Anyone out there ever make one?

you don’t need a special tool to compress the spring. You can do it by raising the rear end of the car opposite from the side from which the front spring is to be removed. Additional compress may be achieved by leaning on the fender over the spring. This method is straight out of the 58 rambler TSM but will work for 59. I’ve tried it already on my 59 and 60 rambler big cars and it works. Now you just need to make the tool to hook to the upper and lower spring seats ears to capture it. I’ve made something out of 2 j bolts and a coupler to capture it but I wouldn’t recommend it. You can put a wanted ad out for the specific tool your looking for also or contact an amc supplier to see if they might sell or loan you one.

I think Galvin's carries the correct spring compressors.

I made this spring compressor for my 68 AMC AMX. I first read the many threads on what other members made to remove the coiled springs from trunnion front suspension. I created a thread on it too. Do a search.
Questions are powerful tools...what's in your toolbox?

I built this tool.
I had no engine or transmission in the car so the factory tool would not work. It worked great. I had to take measurements as I built it.. The 1" tube and the threaded rod I cut 10" the 1 1/4" tube was 9". I had this built and the whole suspension out in a weekend.

I felt comfortable with this tool only because my springs are straight and would not bulge out. Some old worn out springs seem develop an arch and it could be dangerous without the fences on the sides.
