Hi, I did this over 20 years ago, and it still works today. I took two off the shelf hardware store "L" flat, brackets, 2", put them together for strength , and bolted them to the stock 2100/2150 throttle, pointing backwards. Got a ball end stud, from local hardware store or Holley, if you must, bolted it to the last hole in the "L" bracket, and attached the stock 6 cyl throttle rod to it. Now all you need is a spring, put one on your throttle, and run it BACK, towards firewall to the easiest spot you can find. Again, still working today on my 77 Hornet AMX 258 w/ MC2150, good luck, gz

Either mod the linkage to work as it sounds like you did (and amcfool1), or switch to a cable. You can use almost any late model pedal that mounts to the firewall. I used a Jeep Cherokee pedal in my 63 Classic. I have a Jeep 4.0L EFI and not a carb, and had the whole Jeep for parts, but it will work with a carb. Might need a different length cable, but the 4.0L HO cable is pretty long.

Didn't think about an auto trans! You'd have to use a Lokar cable to replace the linkage. The cable is easier to adjust and stays in adjustment better, but would be an added expense. |
