The radiator support on my '68 American suffered some abuse at the hands of the previous owner. Bent up pretty bad, and the lower left corner has been completely cut off, in order to cobble the radiator back in, I assume. Anyway, has anyone ever replaced just the support on these unibodies? Is it as simple as drilling out the spot welds and getting one off a donor car, or am I just better off trying to straighten the damn thing out and weld in a new piece of sheet metal on the corner? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Oh, I would post some pics, but I dont have enough posts yet.

With some careful measuring... a little bracing...It is as easy as drilling the spot welds and replacing it .BUT i would only do it with the engine and tran`s removed...The shock towers will bend in due to the driveline weight...I have seen it then it becomes a real mess....

Changed the one on my 67.  It was hit in the drivers corner and bent, including the frame rail.  We removed everything from the trunnion tower forward, except the frame rail.  We straightened the frame on a frame machine, and put on a donor core support from a 69.  The spot welds round the front of the frame rail are tricky, but it's not that hard.  I had a thread up w/pictures until Photobucket decided to change their policies.
