I have the complete 1970 Disc brake hardware from a Javelin, spindles, rotors, brackets, calipers, everything. Can this hardware be put into a 1969 AMX? I know everyone does not like the 4 piston calipers, but I had good success with them for 30 years until they leaked. I am willing to purchase the set of new calipers and use them on the 1969 AMX. What say you?

If you have all the parts and know how to do the maintenance, then why not.

I agree with Paul.....the entire brake system from front to back is the same for 69 and 70, with exception of the front brake lines in the engine compartment. changing to factory disc on the 69, make sure you have the proportioning valve under the right rear of the car and the rear wheel cylinders would be swapped to if I remember correctly (different bore size).

Thanks all for the information, I will look into changing the front lines and valve, and also upgrading to power brake booster and master.

Let's ask Ross if there's any difference in the 70 vs. 69 brake pedal, pertaining to PDB vs. what you have now. 70 pedals are different, but I'm not wise enough to know if that will matter when you do the changeover. Obviously get yourself the PDB booster and master. One of our Forum members reproduces most of the bracket, linkage and hardware to mount them. You can look under For Sale for those. |
