Will the factory ‘70 8K tach current trigger function with full 12v ? Running a MSD 8523 Ready to Run Distr. which requires full 12v to operate correctly?
If not, what does the tach operate at, could a ballast resistor be integrated into the yellow wire off the 12v coil to lower the voltage read? Currently, I planning on running 12v feed to the “I” terminal of the solenoid and then down to the +side of the coil. I would think I’d need a ballast resistor from the “I”terminal between the 12v and blue tach wire. Thoughts? |

MSD makes a tach adapter that will run it correctly.

There is no tach adapter for the 8523 ready to run distr. I’d have add on the MSD ignition box and then buy the tach adapter.
Will wait for additional inputs from Forum members. Thx. Greg |

It has the standard MSD 12v square wave tach signal on the gray wire. The 8920 tach adapter will take that signal and drive your tach.
