tach has a green wire and a yellow coming out of it....is the green the tach signal, yellow B+ (or switched), and grounded thru the metal plate on the back?
I don't have a TSM for it so..... |

I've been looking but cannot find a 78 or later factory tachometer listed. Not saying they were not optioned, but I cannot find it. Autozone has wiring diagrams on-line and none have the factory tach.
So for aftermarket tach's, NORMALLY: Yellow is power, ignition switch side Green is signal from the coil or ignition module Black is negative ground White is dash light Some older tach's had Red as power and Yellow as signal - no Green Best of luck. If you buy an aftermarket tach it should have wiring instructions with it.

In a car with the Concord/Spirit/Eagle tach, yellow goes to brown, brown goes to fuse block to power all of the gauges at the console AND the tach.
The green goes to the black which heads out under the hood and goes to coil (-) Negative. So yellow is power, green is coil - signal. |
