Still working on the solid ABS headliner install on my 69 AMX. Its trimmed and in place, but there is some 'sag' in the front between the mirror and sun visor. Is it OK to put a short screw along that edge since there is an elevated strip there (give strength to the roof and CLEARANCE for the screws used for the rear mirror and sun visors?

The inside windshield trim holds that in place doesn't it?

Yes, the trim will hold it up, but these solid ABS units are not as flexible as the old pressed board type, and they are made a bit larger than necessary so as to fit every car. That entails trimming!

The trim pieces above the windshield are made of steel. They will do a great job of holding the headliner up.

I've got the ABS headliner also but don't recall having a fitment problem.
