Do any of the vendors make an adapter to switch from an AMC oil filter to a Ford or Dodge oil filter?  Different thread size.

Factory piece.

After Chrysler took over they changed the AMC's to take the Ford/Mopar filter. The 4.0's use the same adapter. I don't have the pn here but it was available at the local Mopar dealer last time I looked, which admittedly was a while ago.

I have no reason to install that adapter. The Purolator L30005 works well for me but each to his own.

Just go to your local pick-a-part and grab one off a 4.0 Jeep. Anything newer than 1991 will work.

why run a ford filter ?  because it is longer ?  put a NAPA 1049 on it if you want a longer filter and you do not need to change anything filter fits older pontiac has a anti drain back valve in it and is bigger then the NAPA 1258

I've ran the 1049 and changed to the ford filter.. The ford filter has instant start up pressure. A definite improvement.
You have to block the oem bypass in the filter housing to run the ford filter.
