Have a question that may or not be applicable to this thread. Everything in this thread is about the flex plates for the various automatic transmissions. Is there as much variability in the flywheels for the manual cars. Say for example, are all of the T10 flywheels the same or do they differ by year / engine??

They are all different like the flexplates.

Since all AMC V-8s are externally balanced, all flywheels are unique to displacement. A 304 is different from a 360 which is different from a 401. The crankshaft also changed in 1972, so a pre-72 flywheel is different from a 72-up. Bob tufcj |

Great info on the link showing the various flywheels. I need to make sure I get the date code for my block so I know which to get (if needed). Assuming the crank is the same year? Thanks guys!

I've got one here that I figure is a 258/242 flexplate, but it's different from my others in that it has two groups of smaller, oblong holes (4 and 2 in each respective group). It matches up in every other respect, so I'm curious as to whether anyone may know what configuration used this.
Here it is stacked on top of my Gremlin's old flexplate that was cracked to heck. Any ideas? Ideally, I'd like to be able to use it as a backup for my Eagle with an A998, but just knowing what it went to would be cool. |

I had one like that. I believe that it is for the 258.

I bought a parts interchange book on Ebay , if you have a part # this book will tell you what it's for and the years it will work on. My flywheel ended up being for one year and one motor and transmission. So yeah it's very important to be sure you have the right one. Hope this helps a little
