is this good to go?

I have one vendor telling me he offers the correct .328 stick/tube for all 67-91 AMC V8 blocks.  Makes sense.

But when I check the part number and some other vendors it comes up for a Jeep 72 and up.

I can't see any in person and check OD with a micrometer, or it would be easy.

Prices range from about 15$ to over 44$ delivered for what I think is the same part.

Thank you.

The only one I would trust on fitting is the Bulltear.com one.
You can not trust the Dodge/Jeep ones as they are too big and do not fit into the hole. Some say you can file it down to fit but I have not tried this so cant say it will work.
I can tell you the Dodge/Jeep ones I got about 10 years ago do not fit and I need one for my street car project so I might try the file trick as I do have one here.

When did you get it? Maybe it was real old stock? As said I got 2 of them years ago and when I used 1 in my drag motor it would not fit in all the way. Now this is not bad as it takes more oil to hit the mark Wink

Is the issue the OD of the tube itself or the two belts?

The OD of mine is .321 to .324 for the tube itself going in the block

The two flares are in the .34  to .35 range.

The tube itself following the curve is about 17.5 inches,
and the dipstick blade from tip to bottom of the yellow handle about 20 inches.

Not sure how this compares to what most of you are using.

It is the part that fits in side the block. It is too big so it will not seat all the way to the flange. Now I just pulled the 2 tubes, 1 stick & 2 valve cover tabs where they have been since 11/3/04 The paper work said I bought the amount listed above so I dont know where the one in the race 360 came from now?? The race car one is the one that did not fit all the way will not know about the 2 I have here till I try and that will not be for a week or 2. I did measure just below the flange and came up with .323  and come up the same as you for the flares too.

I say give it a try and let me know if it work or not Wink LOL
Now where did I get the one for the race motor?? BTW even though it did not fit all the way down it does not leak.

For years we have struggled with OEM replacement dipstick tubes that will not fit in the block. The reason is AMC V8's have a block hole of .328 and Mopar dipstick tubes are .344-.348. This means you would break the tube before it sat in the block. These tubes are guranteed to fit your AMC V8 block and use a OEM length stick for accurate oil measurements. Kit includes one tube and one dipstick.

So from the looks of it no it won't Cry
Like I said it's in and dose not leak. Also when you do put one in make sure you have the stick in the tube to help guide it as it has to pass thru a baffle in the pan and the stick helps. I also had the valve cover bracket on to help guide it too.
