My husband and I (he's an electrical engineer too - but not 22), polished my car's brightwork pretty successfully.  She has an NOS grill and front bumper, but the rest is the original stuff.  We used his grinding wheel with a buffer attachment and various compounds.  In our car, some of the brightwork was chrome, some stailess, and some aluminum. They have slightly different qualities to them.  We stripped, masked, and repainted the black areas using self-etching primer and rattle can flat black, and hand painted the smaller areas.

One thing I wish we hadn't polished?  The windshield wipers...they were pretty blinding until they oxidized a bit.

Update:

So in the early to mid 70's one of the girls (Charlies daughter's) had a minor accident with the car and it tweaked the front end/Rad support slightly.  This was terribly repaired back then and I wasn't happy with all the offset holes and misaligned panels.  Over the weekend my grandfather and I started to pull on it a little and start straightening it out the right way.

Update:

Body work begins on the front-end of the car.

Just a small teaser:(Don't give it away just yet Kevin)

Thanks to Kevin I received a heads up on a rather interesting vehicle that is located practically in my backyard.  Tomorrow I am planning on going to look at it and if all goes well it will bring some rather large changes to my 990 build.

Oooohhh, going for it... Like it.

Make sure EVERYTHING is there you will need.  It is way to hard to track down even the insignificant pieces.  Good luck - let us know how the story goes.
