Need to get into the rear end on the Concord wagon T5 to check out the pinion bearings and such, thanks to forum info.  Got to Autozone and they list nothing, so need to know what rear end to look up to be able to buy a new gasket, or a lead to where to buy?

the cover is off but a model 20 should look like this, round and the gasket is cork about 1/4 wide with no holes in it. If you have a V8 most likly this diff, a 6 would have a smaller diff in it

If it is a 6 cyl car, AMC called it a AMC-15.  It is a  7 9/16 axle.  Later on they called it a Dana 35. If it has a perfectly round cover with 12 bolts holding it on it is a AMC20.  I doubt very much if it is the 20.  I will double check tomorrow but, I would go with the NAPA part number.

I learned something today...................

From Wikipedia:

The Dana/Spicer Model 35 is an automotive axle manufactured by Dana Corp. since 1985 when American Motors (AMC) sold its axle tooling equipment to Dana.[1] The axle was originally named an AMC-15 when it was first made in 1962.[1] Dana upgraded the axle, and made IFS and Twin Traction Beam front axle variations, as well. The last year the Dana 35 was used in a Jeep Wrangler was 2006

[edit] General specifications

The Dana 35 (as well as the AMC-15) is found in a wide variety of vehicles. The most common Dana 35 applications are as a rear axle in the Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Comanche and as a front axle in the Ford Explorer. It is "reliable in day-to-day street use, but notoriously the opposite when worked hard."[2]

  • Ring Gear measures 7.5 inches (191 mm)
  • OEM Inner axle shaft spline count: 27
  • Pinion shaft splines: 26
  • Rear axle ratios range from 2.73:1 to 4.88:1
    • TTB axle ratios range from 3.27:1 to 4.88:1
    • IFS axle ratios range from 3.08:1 to 4.88:1
  • Carrier break: 2.72:1 - 3.31:1 and 3.55 - 4.88:1
  • Axle Shaft diameter
    • Rear 1.09 inches (28 mm) (30 Spline)

[edit] Independent front suspension (IFS) Dana 35 axle

Throughout the 1990s Ford used the Dana 35 as a front axle. In both TTB and full IFS variations. These units also follow Ford's tradition of using high pinion, reverse cut units. Dodge used this front axle only for a few years in Dakotas and Durangos.

  • GAWR up to 2900 lbs depending on variation and set up.

[edit] Rear Dana 35 solid axle

The Dana 35 is used extensively in the Jeep models. This axle had a GAWR up to 2700 lbs.

[edit] AMC 15

The AMC 15 saw use in many AMC model vehicles.

That is interesting, thanks again.
See the NAPA gasket is $4.99, and use gasket sealer on these too, right?
