OK someone tell me the difference between the 71-74 rear spoilers and the 69-70 spoilers?  i know it concerns the ends where it touches the  quarter extensions.  How decent are the reproduction 70 Donahue rear spoilers?

The ends are different....also I think spoiler is at a different angle, from what I'm told.there may be a decent repro, but from what I've heard, mounting studs and finish are issues there.I had a early javelin with a modified later spoiler...looked ok.

1970 was the first year for the fibreglass spoiler (commonly referred to as the Donohue spoiler). Before that, a pedestal type wing was used on the trunk or roof.

The 70 style is different from the 71-74 spoilers. The mounting studs are in different locations, so a 70 style spoiler won't mount to a trunk lid drilled for the 71-74. The 71-74 spoiler will also interfere with the 68-70 fender extensions. The Donohue spoiler was not put on the AMX, so it may interfere with the AMX fender extensions. The interference is not that significant and the spoiler can be mod'ed to fit.

I looked at putting a spoiler on my Jav about 10 years ago. At that time, the re-pop Donohue spoilers were not good quality and needed a lot of adjustment to get them to fit properly. I don't know if they have got better over the years or not.

I installed a Mark D. Spoiler on my 69 AMX as soon as they came out. It bolted right up, with no interference.

reproduction spoilers have had good reviews  the 71 -74 spoiler is wider and a different angle and I do believe the 70 spoiler is a touch taller

I was able to take an OE 71-74 and with a 70 Javelin that was fitted with a spoiler, place the 71-74 on it and with a grinding disc and a little time make it fit quite well. The only real noticeable difference is the lower corner ends of the spoiler that follow down the rear quarter extensions aren't pointed the way they should be. All the holes lined up though. It's the same trunk lid so I don't know why they would have changed the bolt pattern? The only "correct" spoiler for any car produced prior to 1/1/70 is the Kaplan wing spoiler, the Donohue spoiler wasn't released until after that date.
