Oh I agree with you.....

One thing that was noticed is a 407  did not like big ported heads at 7000 RPM .. Slowed the car down 3 tenths.... The heads were better suited for larger cubes and higher RPM ... Just like what A.H.A. is suggesting  the Trapezoid heads are designed for....

When a set of regular heads with modified raised port heads and filled in bottom runners were put on the car went 3 tenths faster....

This led us to want to test the small runner modified EFI intake on this combination...

It would have been interesting swapping manifolds to see what the results would have been when you were dyno your motor...

As far as what you are looking for a manifold came in this week to see if it can be modified for the next level... It will be interesting to see which manifold works with each different ported head .....

Catch 22 sort of. To have a runner of large cross section you got to have a long runner as to not have a severe taper.....

I got a few hundred hours playing with clay, plastic
and Mastercam on Chevy and AMC engine mock-ups. The problems are the same
for any 90 degree siamesed intake V8, no room and the compramise between nasty curves, tapers
and runner length.

Also that nasty 5 and 7 turbulence thing because of the 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 firing order.

The Holly-Z manifold with 7&8 connected with a crossover passage to balance out that turbulence. However that manifold was a small port street manifold. Weld in a crossover on a Torquer ???????????????
