I think I've drilled them for a 10-32 screw and then used the screw head to pry them out IIRC, then epoxy over them on install.

Drove the car 30 miles now and carb is great, still playing with the squirters and air screws but all is well.
Drilled the caps out of the met block that was giving trouble last night, no visible problem, no jets below plugs , just an open passage, no trash in passage, can't c anything wrong but fuel was defiantly getting by it somehow.
After I show it to all my gearhead friends I'm trashing it so it won't get used again.

They've been known to have porosity problems as well.

Well after all this female canineing and gripping I have a little to brag about,
Had to work yesterday so I kinda took today off , took 5 year old to Dr and then day was mine. Maintiance light came on in my Camry, time to change oil. Some friends of mine in a nearby town had been naging me to bring my car by so I headed out ( about 35 mile round trip) showed car to them, bought filter and oil, headed home. Got behind a 18 wheeler on 2 lane state road home, couldn't wait to pass, followed 2/3 way home before I had a chance, down to 3rd and nailed it, shift light turned red @ 5500rpm and for the first time ever it chirped 4th rubber. Feels good as ever till 5500 then just don't pull like it did.

I'm having similar issues to this on my 72 Javelin SST 360 4BBL 4 spd 3.54 gears. It has low miles(9710) but sat for a long time un-driven, just started periodically until I finally took ownership. I just finished replacing the water pump on it this weekend after I discovered it starting to overheat. Changed all the simple things as well. Turns out the impeller corroded clean off the shaft from all those years sitting I guess. I ill post pics. Only got 9710 miles outta that factory WP Getting it going it seems now to run good but surges both on regular & high idle, and driving conditions. Has new fuel pump initially thought that was it... But now thinking carb or maybe more likely intake leak??? So here in lies my dilemma, this car is original,no sh$t, mileage everything as it was when my uncle bought it new. However, I have amassed quite a selection of performance parts for this car. I will never ever sell this car and it will eventually be passed on to one of my sons. The question is do I simply R/R the intake manifold and leave it stock, search for another 360 or dare I say it a 401(I wish) to build up and drop in. Effectively mothballing all the original low mile parts. Or just begin my build with my essentially not even broken in original AMC 360??? Open to any and all suggestions or criticisms thanks for information and more importantly thanks for reading all this.

After sleeping on it and rolling it through my thought process for a day and a half. I decided to order a rebuild kit for my Motorcraft 4300 and just install my fel-pro instake set on the original stuff for the time being. Hopefully I'll find that ever elusive 401 to build. Thanks to everyone that replied.... "crickets chirping"

RamblinJavelin72, you should definitely start your own thread, and you'll likely get more responses. This thread was pretty much done with the original poster solving his problem. I'm not trying to be an rump, just hopefully being helpful.

Changed the 33 ifrs in the billet block to 31s, it's almost perfect now, still playing with front mains and squirters.
