Hey All,
Looking for some info on my lowering plate image. I have a 66 Rambler Classic 550. I have read all the various how-tos on the lowering plates, but no one seems to do the full overlap with the ~2.5" drop. Here is my image: Can anyone confirm or deny my dimensions are correct? I used another thread to set my dimensions. I was going with no tapped holes as all would be thru bolts, right? Hoepfully I can write-up upon my adventures and add this to the recently started "Lowering Plate Bible" thread. Thanks for the help. Jason

I run the same plate on my 65 Classic. You can check it out on my build tread in the Frankenrambler section under "65 classic transformation". I can't verify you specs are exact, but all you really need to know is the spacing between the holes on the spindle. Mine do not have any taped holes either. They have been run from the previous owner and now me the past 5 years with no issues whatsoever.

There is an existing thread where the author welded a small tab to the back-side that would touch the knuckle if the plate flexed or bent... I can look for that thread, unless someone remembers it first...

Thanks for the update, weramble! Great info in your thread as that is exactly what I would like to do.
Also, if anyone can confirm my hole dimensions, that would be great, but I will double check before I kick off. Thanks again.

For the record, the Over-All length listed is incorrect. If anyone is making a set of these (I am), the OA length should be... 6.1876". (.5313 + 2.5625 + 2.5625 + .5313) I'm guessing the drawing program didn't auto-sum. The hole spacing is correct, at least for the small body spindles I have. Thanks for posting this... Gregg

All AMC spindles from 1950-1983 have the exact same bolt pattern and will interchange. AFAIK the length is the same (distance between bearings). There are various differences in the thickness of the base to change the offset. Mainly due to differences in types of brakes or width in drum brakes.
