.005 doesn't sound like much, that may be true. The thinner the metal the quicker it will heat up. Plug tips are much thicker. Granted there is a huge mass of heat sink surrounding that .005 overhang too.
.005 for sure doesn't sound like a lot, nor that it's going to cause problems. $5K which is commonly what it takes to professionally rebuild and engine sounds like a lot more and why do you want to entice problems? I know if it's my $5K, the head gaskets won't be a smaller bore than the bore itself. |
