My current 66 American wagon had 4.5 width rims.  If when you say Rambler,  you mean what in earlier years was called an American,  then I think yours would have the same.
It's been so long since I've run stock wheels on a American,  1967 with with 195x14, on a 64 American,  but they were real close to the trunnions on the front.

I'd go by the recommendations from tire websites like Tire Rack has.
If you go much bigger with stock wheels your going to have to start looking at wheel spacers or something to give you room at the trunnions.

I ran 195s and 205s on my 63 American, 15" wheels. The distance between tire and trunnion is about the same on the 64-69 models as the 58-63 even though bodies are way different. With the right wheel you can run a 215 and maybe a 225, but may need a spacer. I'm running 215s on my Classic and needed 1/8" spacers when I was running stock type 6" wheels on front. You don't need much room between the trunnion and wheels, 1/8" will do it. It never gets closer or further away as suspension moves. A 7" wide wheel is about as wide as you can go front and rear, 3-3'4" backset is common, and may need a 1/8" or 1/4" spacer. I wouldn't run more than a 195 width on the original 4.5" or 5" wide wheels.

69 Rambler (Series 01, formerly called American) used 4.5" wheels in six cylinder sedans, 5.0" wheels on wagons. All V8 models got 5.5" wheels.

Have 215's on my 69 Rambler sedan. 15" (6" width) wheels with 3.75" backspacing. The 215's are tucked in close to the rear wheel well lips but do not rub (put new leaf springs on with a little more height). They have plenty of distance from the trunnions up front. 195's would be a snap for you. As Farna said, 225's may be pushing it.
