Hi, i am replacing sending unit in my 77 Hornet AMX 258/5spd. THe sock comes in two sizes, 2.75" and 4.25". My car had the 4 ", but I have a new NOS sending unit from Galvins that says its for 2.75" sock, which I have as well.
Question, what is the difference? Why the two lenghts? And can I use the 2.75 when car originally had the 4.25" sock?  thanks, gz

The length, I think, is a toss up. A new sock that fits the pickup is fine, short or long.
