When rebuilt the 232 in the Gladiator, I installed a Skip White HEI distributor. For the past four years, it has served us well. The wire connector at the coil is failing. If I gently touch it, the engine stutters. Is there another reasonable atternative available or should I just buy another Skip White distributor? I’m not sure if I can replace the coil. It appears to be a GM style coil.

Should be just a gm coil. Remove the top cover and it unbolts. Real easy to change

A new coil is not expensive. Last one I changed in a gm hei was under $10.

On the subject of a HEI, is 5 degrees still a good timing setting? The TSM states it’s either 5 degrees or 0 depending on the model of distributor. Obviously, HEI didn’t exist in 1969.
