Recently I was given some advice about converting from Front Drum to Front Disc brakes. I bought the kit from American Parts Depot, and I have all the parts to do it, but a friend told me that I need to remove a brake check valve since on drum brakes its used to hold a bit of pressure, but with disc it will hold and make the pads drag, and I was wondering if this was true, and where I could find that part if I have to remove it. Thanks.

It is a residual pressure valve and I understand that it is in the output fitting of the master cylinder and can be removed. I have not done it myself, as whenever I do a conversion I use a new master cylinder and buy one for disc/drum. Unless you have a new master cylinder already, price a new disc/drum unit. I have never paid much for one.

x2
If you're going so far as to convert to discs, go the extra few $$ and put in a new disc brake master cylinder.

Thank you, thats what I just did and it will be here wednesday, I was unsure if it was in the master cylinder or not, but since it is and I have a manual all drum master cylinder I'll be replacing it anyway, so thank you very much.
