1982 Concord
Carter BBD 2B
258

I recently drilled the idle tubes and replaced a thrown rod and some rockers.

Usually I pump the gas twice, crank the car and it starts.

Now, I pump twice and the car cranks for 4/5/6/ seconds and the starts. The idle is racing and wont kick down.

In drive the car 'sounds' normal.  The idle seems ok.

From what I understand the Carters are a pain to adjust so before I think about that, what could I try first ? Possibly something simple....I hope.

Thanks

Check for a vacuum leak.  Extra air at idle both leans the mixture and can increase the idle speed.  Joe
