I am sure I could find the answer, if I knew where to look. I was hoping someone might know off the top of your head. The yellow wire on the left passing through the fire wall. It is currently cut off just after it enters the engine bay with no evidence where it went.

Well thanks. Does that mean my car had AC at some point. The fan switch currently has only a heat option. A/C sounds nice, somewhere near the bottom of the list of desires

I believe it may be for a Throttle Closing Solenoid:

I think you nailed it, Lyle. My car was originally a 304 with an automatic. In any case, I guess I don't need it now. Engine runs good without it

My 1973 with 360 and automatic does not have this wire........ there's only the one wire there, appears to go to the windshield wiper bottle area - which was stripped from my car for some reason.

That must be a common weight reduction mod. My bottle is also gone

The Throttle Closing Solenoid (TCS) was only installed after November 1973 on 2V and 4V according to the note on the wiring diagram I have. Check your build date.
The diagram states 1973 and 1974 so I don't know if they continued with this thing to the end of production or not.
There is a 1974 wiring diagram that does not have the TCS so your guess is as good as mine. It could be a carburetor specific thing or emissions change.

The missing washer bottle could be because it cracked or broke or leaked.......... who knows. the weight savings would come mostly from the bolts that held it in place! LOL

My tag - any idea when it was built? Looks like first character was W, then maybe 0 but it's unreadable in areas.
