I moved this topic (maybe a Mod could combine them?) to the more appropriate members projects, and I will post more progress photos as I go.
Today, the exhaust system was mocked up, it just needs some tweaking, and I will change "u" clamps to band clamps for better seals and a cleaner look. The pipe is 2.5" and features stainless Borla mufflers. The system (minus mufflers) came from Waldron's Exhaust.
Here's a shot of the tank, and tailpipes. I found some correct factory style clamps (done in stainless) for the tips from AMXMGS resto parts, to be installed soon.

Scott the car is coming along nicely.Do you plan to bring it to the Boston AMO show? I got my exhaust from Waldrons also and wasnt thrilled with the fit. We had to correct some incorrect bends on the drivers side pipes. Bob

If the '71 is finished, I hope to bring it to Boston.... Of course, it all depends on if gas is 5 bucks a gallon by then, lol. I too had problems with Waldrons, this time it was the drivers intermediate pipe that was bent incorrectly. It should be a mirror image of the passenger side. Waldrons then sent the correctly bent one to me at no charge.

Thanks, It's an original tank,I used Eastwood "Tanktone" paint on the tank, it seems to do a decent job of replicating the original finish. I also used "Hammertone" (not to be confused with "hammertime") paint on the straps to imitate a galvanized finish.

Are those the correct rear axle u-bolt Nuts? I haven't ever seen that style used on u-bolts for any of the cars that I have owned or parted out.

I would call them a modern replacement, as the springs and hardware came from Eaton Spring, the original supplier to AMC and many others.
Rather than use 40+ year old fasteners, I changed out the high stress hardware, including all of the front suspension/steering bolts and nuts to new grade 8.
