Scott, what a great job you did restoring this car. They are one of my favorites and that electric blue really looks great on a 71 AMX. Great post with lots of great information, especially how you painted the Machine Rims. Hope you bring it to Cleveland AMO this year.

I finally got around to install the set of restored trim rings back on the wheels. This is on the Bias set, which will only see show use. The other set should arrive next week for the Radial set. Thanks to the Expertise of Jeff Thomas, who gave great advice on this nerve wracking install. It went very well!
First, you want to lube the back of the trim ring/contact area on wheel (I used silicone grease) this will aid in sliding in and rotating for the valve stem alignment. Two people needed to do this, one to aid in valve stem alignment, and both EVENLY press on edges to guide it "home". When you hear the metallic "ping" the trim ring is in! As long as the trim ring was restored properly, this install goes very well. I also kept the paint buildup to a minimum on the edges, |

Scott, those look great. I need to do that on some of my sets. Just haven't had the nerve
to remove them yet. |

After many years of patience and saving, I finally have two sets of the Machine Wheels....A Bias set for show use, and a Radial set for everyday driving.
