i have run into another snag, just finished installing the windows in my 68 amx, i bought the car totally disassembled and in boxes so it been a challenge, can anyone send me a picture of the lock knob and how it looks in the door arm rest pad because i dont think i have this part, the lock is a round peg/pin with 2 flat sides and when the lock pin is turned it unlocks the door. also there were cable locks and rod locks in the box because the former owner had several different car he took apart and put everything in the same boxes, which one is correct for 68 amx (cable or rod)   any help would be appreciated

I parted out a '68 AMX some years back, it had the cable lock. Pretty horrible idea IMHO.

68 is a split year on cable locks and rod locks......you just have to have the lock mechanism and door lock which ever you select to use.......if I have choice, stay away from cables, they can be very difficult to operate.  No one can tell the difference when all the parts and panels are installed.

installed the cables at first and found them hard to operate so then tried the rod locks and what a big difference, rod locks turn much better. also found a picture of a lock lever. thanks for everyone's help.
