I'm aware that Doug Thorley headers were a dealer option as part of the Group 19 stuff? I think I read that there was a removable tube for header clearence as well. My question is: do these look like those used on the SC/Ramblers?

These were said to be bought for a 69 Javelin but never used. Also I can't tell if there is a removable tube or not. Confused

Andy, here is a picture of the slide out tube it gives you more clearance for the starter. The ones I have are hooker super comp's 1 3/4 tube size. The ones in you picture look like they don't huge the block enough to fit the small body cars..........Jim.

The old doug thorley headers will fit the SC/Rambler are 1-5/8 and have a removable tube..but the ones you have pictured are not them.....
JR made a 1-7/8 header with a removable tube that fit also but required cutting a hole in the right fenderwell...
the only current header that fits the SC are a hooker...and the header i make but mine are a big tube and not what you would probably want on a mild street engine...

Thanks for the info guys! In my quest to make the best SC clone that I can, I thought these might be correct as group 19 parts. Add the fact that they're here in Las Vegas made them seem too good to be true! Wink  I just bought a set of Hooker headers from Dan Curtis, so I'll stick with them.

I have an original set of Dougs headers that were designed to fit an American. In fact (back in the day) Doug used a 67 Rouge from my dads dealership to design the original prototypes, but there are no removable tubes on them.

My dad was good friends with Doug back then and let him use many different cars (Rouge, AMX's, Javelin's, Etc.) during the AMC header development.

Thanks Dennis! The seller says these were purchased for a 69 Javelin but never used. Were Dougs headers model specific? Would these fit anything else besides an early Javelin or AMX?

Jim,    Do you know the Hooker part number on your headers?     Did you have any clearance issues?

Ramblin On, the part # is 7105. They are a tight fit but did not have to grind anything. They even cleared the Indy heads although I had grind the head to get the dip stick to fit......Jim.

John i sent you an e-mail...
I am able to finally confirm that these will NOT fit on an AMX,jav,mat,ambo.....A buddy of mine test fit them on his AMX and although there were a couple issues that could be delt with easily...The big problem is the tubes hit the floor because of the taller mounts....
I made these specifically for the small chassis that allow good ground clearance...AMX guys will have to stick with the hookers...
