Can somebody tell me what length rockers studs are used to convert the 291C heads to adjustable rockers and what guide plates are used?

Think I've always used ARP 7/16" small block Chevy rocker studs. Shouldn't need guide plates on those heads. The pushrod hole is barely big enough to fit through as cast. -Steve- |

Should add that I have Harland Sharp rockers for 3/8 studs.

Turns out the heads are 993 castings, so it looks like it's a late 71 motor with lower compression (helps to explain 130 psi on the compression test), but I did see that the heads have slots for the pushrods, so definitely no guide plates required, just add rocker studs and it should be good to go.

Do you have a part number? Comp lists as "High-energy", magnum and so on - nothing mentioned about dimensions or low profile in the searches I've been doing for my 73 360

If that is the case you can make your own and cut the length you need: https://www.fastenal.com/products/details/47455 A little above grade 5 for yield strength but not grade 8 that is to hard for the application. This is tempered chrome-moly steel.

I suppose I could also chuck up each stud and shave off the "shoulder" portion....... but that's a bit more work.

My rocker arms are for 7/16" studs...... SCP1055BL
So that would be the 4501-16 and wow another almost 20 bucks for a 7/16 vs 3/8" wow 35 to 54 bucks just going from the 4502 to the 4501 |
