   You might have a 4.11 or 3.73 rear end, but you've also got a slipping transmission.
   If it does 3200 rpm at 60 mph, it should be around 1800 rpm at 35, not 2500., in the same gear.
  Do the math, something's slipping.

Hi guys, I just completed 5 year restoration on a 68 amx with a factory replacement 401 engine in it. Took it out for the first time and it is running 3200 rpm at 60 mph - about 2500 rpm at 35mph. The tranny is the borg warner 727 and is shifting into 2nd gear @ 5mph and 3rd @ 15 mph. Not sure what the gear ratio is in the axle. Does this sound normal? I overheated 40 miles driving at 55mph.
