Hello Everyone,
Just learned something new today and thought I would share it... I want to rebuild the front end while the engine is out of the car. Pulled out the OLD & PROBABLY ORIGINAL Front Shocks. Cleaned them up with a wire wheel. On the top half of the shock is the brand, patent number, & Part Numbers. 3159829 MAECO I had never heard of MAECO Brand shocks before. Off I went to the internet and after a few searches; MAECO was the original name of: the MONROE Shock Absorber Company that we know today. M Monroe A Automotive E Equipment C COmpany Could be a Great Trivia Question for that one irritating, "know it all" guy we have met at Car Clubs & Car Shows. Anyway, that is all. Thanks, Ron |

My 66 American had the MAECO shocks on it. I never knew the connection to Monroe. When I was reading through the rust on the shocks I kept wanting to read DELCO. Joe
