Someone asked about some trunk details. Here is a Javelin with a full size spare, and it also shows the location of the Twin Grip sticker. And a 68 AMX with the Spacesaver spare (Javelin would be the same for the Spacesaver). Note how it is mounted. Also note the white inflator canister used on early 68s.

If you don't have a spare in your Javelin and want to know which one you have, just look at the location of the mounting bracket. All AMXs had the Spacesaver spare.

excellant!   Also shows that the spare was mounted with the orange side down.  That has come up a few times here as well.  Does the jack just sit under the spacesaver?  No particular orientation.  I just laid mine on its side and the tire seems to hold it pretty secure.

All that changes in the later Javelins. I have noticed after '72, it didn't seem to matter if you had the space saver or the full size, most had the floor hook in the R upper part of the trunk, where it was formerly used only for full size spares.About the same time, the space saver spares were mounted orange side up, with the jack and bottle underneath the spare.

IN THAT PHOTO. I've also confirmed from two other AMC sources that some left the factory the other way............  (that photo also shows a 68/69, not a 70)
Check your trunk decal for the jack placement.

I'd love to see some proof about 68-70 space savers being mounted orange side up.  Not saying it's impossible, but what evidence is there to prove it?  There is plenty evidence to disprove it.  Of course feel free to restore as you wish.

Also note that there is no clip on the trunk lamp wire Smile.  That has come up recently in some emails
