I have a problem. My trunk key broke and it was the only one I had.. Is there any way of opening the trunk from the outside on a Hornet? Has anyone ever tried? If not, I guess I'll have to take out the back seat and try to open it from the inside.

Try and pick it out with dental pick tools an fine nosed mini pliers. HARBOR FREIGHT has them at a good price.

If you are able to pick out the key, you can carefully file a blank using a wee file set, as the two key sections will be your template.

Other than that, diving through the back will be your option.

You can probably unbolt the hasp from the inside the trunk. That would get you as far as opening the trunk.

Can I assume that the broken key IS in the trunk lock? If so, take the car to a locksmith or invite him/her to your house to pull the broken key from the lock. Any good lock-pick set has a 'pick' for pulling a broken key and the fee for pulling and making a replacement is cheap and easy. Even if you manage to un-bolt and open your trunk; you still need a new key. BTW, get a copy of each key.. cheap insurance.
