  Anyone know if there is any electrical functional difference between Motorola voltage regulators #R2-2 and #R2AM4 other than the connector? I am not sure if R2-2 is the correct #, I believe it is an earlier regulator.

I don't think you are going to find much more than what's written in the 'alternator and regulator ID and connectors' post. To know the difference one would have to cut the two regulators apart and compare or find a schematic of the respective regulators.
