The car was painted over a month ago, and the painter recommended the blue painter type tape because its low adhesive. I couldn't think of much a better way from moving around the car and notscratching or nicking it. I hope I'm not wrong. Had a close call at the trunk lip were I slipped and hit the edge. Tape took the blow but the paint was okay.

This firewall insulation is so off. I think before I glue it up I'm going to make a pattern for R.E.M. I hope they care enough but if not it's only a little wasted time. Someone might say their all going to be a little different but I can't see this much.

Blue tape pulled some of the paint off walls in a bathroom that I had painted about a month earlier. I then taped off the walls around a fiberglass shower for a professional shower refinish in another color. When I took the tape off, I had to touch up the walls. Of course, we are talking sheetrock here.

I hope automotive paint adheres better than household paint,
but you guys are scaring the crap out of me and it's not even my car! ConfusedLOL

No one makes those cling sheets you see on new cars getting delivered on open car trailers?

This is where a seamstress wife would come in handy:
"could you sew all those old comfortors into a 70 AMX shape for me to drape over the car please"

Funny, I too started wondering, and I think these are valid thoughts. I asked my paint guy again and feel better that it's not in the sun, and to test a few spots now and then but should be good. On the other hand I'll be overseas for 2 months, next year so I might take it all off then.
I just can't think of a better way to pertect the paint while I'm moving in and around her.

I didn't use anything but was extremely careful. I did use tape when installing items like bumpers though but it was short term use. I waited until the engine and most of the underhood stuff was installed before I installed the hood and front fenders. If your bodyman/painter are ok with it then i'm sure it will be fine. Sorry if I got you worried!

It all good. I'd rather someone bring it up and evaluate. All my ideas are the best ever until there not. But when you have the power of many ideas, well then your bound for sucess.
I finished the firewall insulation mat. I think I did well. I'm pleased so far. I did cut it down the middle to get each end to fit right. Then I filled the 1 inch gap with leftover material. I'll post the pics later to night.
Again, I welcome all ideas and thoughts.
Thanks everyone
