Hello, I'm preparing to put Vintage ac in a 68 AMX. They say a min. 70 amps alternator is required with an electric fan. Has anyone got advice of the best direction to take from the original 35 amp Motorola unit. Thanks in advance

Most just grab a late 80s Jeep Sanden bracket and leave the alternator brackets. They fit GM Si10 and other Si cases. Put a want ad.

The OEM upgrade for factory air was a 55 amp Motorola alternator, up from the 35 amp unit.

Not good enough for electric fans and ac... that was his question on upgrading. BiLld also stated there is a police motorola with 65A rating. Probably good enough, if you ask him. |

+1 what Trader posted.
I am doing FI and electric fans and by the calculator I used it is 110 amps, so I upgraded to a 150 from Powermaster.

OP said electric fan (singular), not plural. Not clear whether blower fan was being referred to or engine cooling fan(s). Not sure why Vintage Air aftermarket AC would reference alternator amperage requirements for engine cooling fan(s)? What I stated was accurate with regards to the OEM upgrade when equipped with factory air conditioning.

A 70 amp will handle twin fans with no problem. If you use a variable speed controller, the system won't see the big draw when the fans kick on or use as much amps running since they're not running full speed. DMack is running a Motorola 55 amp, with the Contour fans and A/C using the Northern Radiator fan controller with no problems. The alternator Trader lists does fit and work well.

"The alternator Trader lists does fit and work well."
This alternator that Trader listed will fit the AMC brackets without any cutting or modifications?
